1st Anniversary Party!
MINNEAPOLIS – June 15, 2:00 – 10:00 p.m., Gamut Gallery invites one and all to their first anniversary party. All Saturday long, experience the hands-on art making party, known on Thursdays as CoLab Art Night. The day kicks off with a special children’s
edition: Kid’s CoLab from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., kids are then welcome to join the artist’s discussion in the gallery. Ben Wuest will enlighten us about the spiritual-scientific principles that drive his work in the current Liminal Cognition Exhibit. BBQ picnic-style
refreshments and fresh juice bar by Nuri, add to the summer fun. Just as our community completes their masterpieces in the studio, Live Music will begin at 8:00 p.m. Local act Sex Burger and special guests will get the whole studio dancing to live produced funky grooves.
CoLab Art Night began when a group of creative music enthusiasts ventured off the dance floor and started creating art together. While the music and inspiring environment lent nicely to solo work, strong traditions of collaboration began to form. Special events, or ‘happenings’ were devised by the participants of CoLab; like “Speed Dating Canvases,” where each party guest sits with a canvas or other art station before the next guest relays in to continue each piece; or the hit event “Glam Slam,” a wild game of dress-up, where guests swap like-new clothes and star in outrageous photo shoots. One year ago Jade Patrick gathered the core group of CoLab organizers together, forming the board of Gamut Gallery. This anniversary party’s non-stop CoLab in the studio, is Gamut Gallery’s love letter to the community of experienced and first time artists that helped create and continue to support our experiments in Art Happenings.
